Opening day is just around the corner!
Speaking of tiny clothes, and vintage...My friend Tammy has a great vintage shop on Etsy called Ms Tips specializing in clothing for women and children. Ms. Tips is celebrating her first (very successful) year in business by offering 30% off today! I wish I were someone very small who could wear this gorgeous piece.
Lily and Hope Den Cam from the North American Bear Center in Ely Minnesota. Lily the black bear had two more cubs this winter and we have really enjoyed watching them grow. They have been really frisky lately...have a look!
Here is a little black bear cub that I made last week (during Custom Bear Week). He is off to his new home!
Easter is in full effect at my favorite thrift store right now and the kids and I picked up these treasures yesterday. I managed to sneak a few things into the cart for Easter baskets too. With Easter in particular it feels a bit silly to me to keep up the ruse but the kids are always so delighted to find their baskets and hunt for eggs. My five year old is very analytical and I know he kind of knows the score but he wants to believe. Yesterday he asked me if the Easter Rabbit eats human food. He speculated that because he behaves like a human (putting together Easter baskets and hiding them for children) he probably eats food like a human does too. So pretty much he was asking me if the Easter Rabbit was really a human right? My answer to these types of questions about implausible holiday characters is usually just "Hmmmm, I don't know kiddo." which is good enough because he doesn't really want to know the answer anyway.
I've found it really challenging to focus on my work this week. Like everyone, I've been so preoccupied with the sad and frightening situation in Japan. Above is a picture of me and my classmates (in 1993!) from the year I spent there as a Rotary Exchange Student. The city I lived in was not directly affected by the tsunami but the volatile nuclear situation is so scary for the whole country. I've spent a lot of time over the past few days looking at my scrapbook from that year wondering how how it must feel to be living through such a tragedy and worrying about people I haven't been in touch with for years. I'm relieved at least that the ones I am in contact with are safe.
My sister and I both married fellas who were born on the 13th of March and they are two of the sweetest, handsomest, most wonderful men around. And now we can both say that they are amazing fathers too. Happy Birthday Benji and Adam, we are so lucky we found you!
Patriotic birthday cards by Oscar.
Thank You L.A!
